Putting iPhone's Siri To Work

Since the iPhone 4S Siri has been avaiable to assist your iPhone experience in many different ways

The premise is basic ask Siri a question and it will give you an answer. In reality Siri is much more than that, it provides an easy and safe way to operate the iPhone completely handsfree, it gives you weather advice, movie reviews, web searches, and so much more.

iPhone Voice Commands

Before the iPhone 4S and siri came along iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch (3rd generation), and iPod touch (4th generation) had a limited (compared to siri) but still usefull voice command function called Voice Control.

To start using Voice Control: Hold the home button or headset middle button for about 2 seconds, you'll hear a double beep and the voice control feature shows on screen.

To issue phone call commands: Say "call" or "dial" plus the name or nickname from the contact details in your address book, you may need to add phone number type, such as "home", "work", "mobile".
Ie. "Call Fred Jones Mobile". Or you can say "Dial" plus the numbers . Ie. "Dial 555 9592".

To issue music commands: Say "Play" or "Play music", or you can say "Play playlist" plus the playlist name. Ie. "Play playlist chillout tracks". Or Say "Play album" plus the album name. Ie. "Play album Whispering Jack". To play a certain artist say "Play artist" plus the artists name. Ie. "Play artist John Farnham". To stop or pause the music say "Pause" or "Pause music". For the next song say "Next song". For the previous song say "Previous song". To Shuffle your songs say "Shuffle". To get a Genius playlist based on the current song playing say "Genius" or "Play more like this" or "Play more songs like this". To find out what song is playing you can say "What's playing?" or "What song is this" or "Who sings this song", or "Who is this song by"

To get the current time: Say "What is the time?" or "What time is it?"

To correct an error: Say "Not that one" or "Wrong" or "Nope" or "No" or "Not that".

To cancel and exit voice control: say "Cancel" or "Stop"

For help: Say "Help"
